Correction is the foundation. Coatings lock in a finish — they do not hide the webs already in the clear coat.

What correction does.

Under shop lighting, most cars show wash marring: fine swirls from brushes, cheap towels, or grit left on a mitt. Paint correction uses compounding and polishing stages to level a measured amount of clear coat so reflections sharpen and gloss returns.

It is not a filler wax. It will not repair a scratch through the clear. We inspect first, then pick enhancement, one-step, or multi-step work. See the gallery for how corrected paint photographs in this studio.

Who it is for.

Anyone heading into ceramic coating. Daily drivers that look tired after winter washes. Show cars that need the paint opened up. If the car just needs a deep clean, start with auto detailing instead.

01

Paint Enhancement

Mild dullness and very light imperfections.

A single-stage polish focused on enhancing gloss and improving overall appearance while reducing very minor imperfections. Commonly chosen for visual improvement without extensive correction, and pairs well with entry-level ceramic coatings.

  • Noticeably improved gloss and clarity
  • Reduction of very light swirl marks
  • A refreshed, cleaner-looking finish

02

1-Step Paint Correction

Moderate swirl marks and light defects.

A more aggressive single-stage correction designed to remove moderate swirl marks, light scratches, and visible paint defects. This is the most commonly recommended option for vehicles that see regular use and is an excellent foundation for ceramic coating.

  • Major reduction in swirl marks and light scratches
  • Sharper reflections and deeper gloss
  • A dramatic improvement in overall paint condition

03

Multi-Step Paint Correction

More substantial defects, oxidation, scratches, and maximum paint refinement.

A comprehensive, multi-stage correction process that targets deeper scratches, heavy swirl marks, oxidation, and more severe paint imperfections. Strongly recommended for older vehicles, neglected paint, or anyone seeking the best possible results before ceramic coating.

  • Removal of deep defects and heavy oxidation
  • Maximum gloss, depth, and paint clarity
  • Near showroom-level results

Questions we get.

What does paint correction actually remove?+

Machine polishing levels a thin amount of clear coat to reduce swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and water spotting. The paint looks glossier because the surface is flatter and reflects light more evenly.

How long does paint correction take?+

It depends on the car, the clear coat, and how far you want to take it. A light enhancement can be a shorter studio day. Multi-step work on a neglected or large vehicle takes longer. We time it after we inspect the paint — not from a stock calendar.

Will correction remove every scratch?+

No. If a scratch is through the clear coat, polishing will not make it disappear. We inspect under proper lighting and tell you what is realistic before we start.

Is paint correction required before ceramic coating?+

If you want the coating to sit on a clean, refined surface, yes. Coating a swirled car just preserves the swirls. Most ceramic jobs at CHM include some level of correction.

How is this different from a polish at a car wash?+

A wash-bay polish is usually a filler or a quick pass. Correction is measured work with lights, tape, and the right pad and compound for that panel. The point is to actually improve the clear coat, then protect it.
